NEW Field Manager
Champion City Kings Name DJ Neff as New Field Manager

SPRINGFIELD, OH — The Champion City Kings are proud to announce the hiring of DJ Neff as the team’s new Field Manager for the upcoming summer season. Neff, a former standout at Ohio Wesleyan University, joins the Kings following two seasons as an assistant coach at Wittenberg University, where he helped develop several All-NCAC performers and led key recruiting and player-development initiatives.
A native of Grove City, Ohio, Neff played collegiately for the Ohio Wesleyan Battling Bishops, where he was a four-year starter and one of the team’s most consistent hitters. During his time at OWU, he ranked among the North Coast Athletic Conference leaders in home runs and slugging percentage, highlighted by multiple clutch performances — including a memorable walk-off home run against Bridgewater State as a freshman. Neff graduated from Ohio Wesleyan with a degree in Business Administration.
After concluding his collegiate career, Neff joined the coaching staff at Wittenberg University in Springfield, where he quickly earned a reputation for his energy, communication, and player-first approach. His experience mentoring college athletes and his deep understanding of the game make him a strong fit to lead the Kings both on and off the field.
“DJ represents the next generation of baseball leadership,” said Danny Leach, Director of Baseball Operations for the Champion City Kings. “He has a passion for developing players and connecting with the community, and we’re thrilled to see him take the next step in his coaching career right here in Springfield.”
This marks Neff’s first head coaching position, and the Kings organization is confident he will bring a new level of energy, professionalism, and excitement to Carleton Davidson Stadium as the team continues its mission to make Kings baseball the premier summer entertainment experience in the Miami Valley
